I joined Dr. Hanson’s team in 1999 and can easily say that I love my job. My duties consist of seating clients, answering any of their questions in regards to their appointment, and assisting Dr. Hanson throughout treatment. However, I feel that my most important duties are to make sure our clients feel comfortable and have a good dental experience. It is so gratifying to know that I have helped someone get through their appointment with ease. Sometimes, they even enjoy their time here! What I love most about working with Dr. Hanson is that he is a very generous, thoughtful, and talented person. I truly think of everyone on our team as my second family.

Outside of our office I love spending time with my husband, Brent, and our children Owen and Amelia. We absolutely love the outdoors and spend the majority of our time camping, fishing, or hunting.

Terri Smuck

Chairside Dental Assistant/Hygiene Coordinator

I am a Level II Dental Assistant and have worked at Hanson Family Dentistry since 2007 with my second family. I assist the doctors with procedures, education and offer my help were it is needed in our office. In May of 2018 I changed my position in the office to Hygiene Coordinator. It’s great, I get to see more of our patient’s.

My favorite part of my job is meeting new patient’s, making our patient’s feel comfortable and helping them achieve their goal towards great oral health and a beautiful smile. I enjoy working with our doctors because they have great personalities and are up to date with the latest dental technology. I truly feel that they offer the best honest and intelligent advice.

Hanson Family Dentistry is a great and fun place to work. When I am not working, I enjoy hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors on Manitoulin Island with my husband and family.

Krista Hughes

Registered Restorative Dental Hygienist/Level II Assistant

I have been a part of Dr. Hanson’s team since 2007. After five years of working as a Level II assistant, I decided to further my education and return to school to become a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2012. Then again in 2018 I went back to school for Registered Restorative Dental Hygienist with the full support from Dr. Hanson in continuing to further my education, the knowledge and experience learned from working at Hanson Dentistry has been endless! I now have the opportunity to help out in all aspects of dentistry within our team.

I chose dentistry as my field because I enjoy interacting with diverse and interesting people. It is very gratifying to know that I have helped someone achieve the smile that have always wanted. My duties’ within our team range from assisting one of our Dentist’s, helping patient’s achieve and maintain their optimal oral health, to now completing filling procedures , most importantly, I make sure our clients are as comfortable as possible. Dr. Hanson and his associates are passionate about what they do and will go out of their way to help clients get the care they need in a gentle manner.

When I’m not in the office I enjoy spending my time with my husband and two son’s. In the summer I play baseball and spend most of our time at our summer cottage on Kukagami Lake.

Melanie Makasoff

Chairside Dental Assistant

My name is Melanie and I am a Level II Dental Assistant. I bring over 12 years of Dental Assisting experience working in various parts of Northern Ontario. I am originally from Sault Ste. Marie, where I started my career before moving with my family to Thunder Bay for a short period of time and then relocating to Azilda in the spring of 2010. I am a hockey mom of 2 boys and when we are not in arenas we enjoy camping, travelling, fishing and anything by a beach!

I started working for Dr. Hanson at the beginning of 2015 and immediately felt welcomed to this family. I work alongside Dr. Hanson and Dr. Bahl. I have experienced the best in technology and new ways to achieve excellent oral health care. This truly is an exceptional office to work in.

Jeannie Gough

Treatment Coordinator

My name is Jeannie, I have been part of Dr. Hanson’s team since 1997. I am the treatment coordinator. I help to answer patient questions about treatment options and make financial arrangements. We all work together as a team to provide you with the best dental care possible. We are constantly searching out new ways to improve ourselves to offer you the most up to date options available.

My husband Alan and I have three children. Two are in university and one is in high school. In our spare time we enjoy travelling, watching hockey and football, and outdoor activities.

Sara Burnside

Business Team Member

Hi my name is Sara. I have been a member of Hanson Family Dentistry since 2000. I am the Restorative and Financial Coordinator. I help our clients schedule their appointments with Dr. Hanson and Dr.Bahl and Dr. Seguin. I also handle all of the accounts receivables for both doctors. I help clients manage their dental insurance, their accounts and field any questions they may have regarding billing. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and two kids, watching my kids play hockey, playing hockey and baseball myself and spending time with friends.

Julie Tremblay

Hi, my name is Julie and I have had the privilege to work as a Registered Dental Hygienist with Dr. Hanson for over 14 years. I have witnessed extraordinary dentistry performed by Dr. Hanson who is passionate about his profession. I have also been blessed to be part of this wonderful, welcoming and professional team! I enjoy my career as a dental hygienist because it gives me the opportunity to interact with my clients and educate them on how to improve their oral and overall health and help create a healthy smile. My goal is to make sure you are comfortable during your visits and that you achieve your dental health goals. It is such a rewarding feeling when I see someone that is extremely nervous overcome their fears and become comfortable at the office. Outside of work, my husband Don and I have two sons, Alex and Justin, and a daughter, Pascale. As a family, we enjoy camping, boating and fishing together and during the winter time its hockey, hockey and more hockey!!!

We have a unique group of people on our dental team. We have fun while we are at work and our clients have commented that they enjoy the atmosphere in the office. The team works together to offer you our best care. I enjoy the opportunity to welcome new clients to our practice.

Hi my name is Avery! I am a Registered Dental Hygienist at Hanson Dentistry. I was blessed to join the team February 2022.

As a child I loved going to see my dental hygienist and leaving with a fresh, clean smile! Which is why I pursued dental hygiene for my own career. Little did I know, dental hygiene is far more than leaving with a fresh, clean smile and it is my job is to teach you why! My goal is to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible while they are in my chair and my clients leave educated on how to maintain good oral health!

I have a love for the outdoors. That’s why when I am not a work, you will find me hunting, fishing, camping or hiking!

Apryl Eadie

Chairside Dental Assistant

Hi my name is Apryl. I was born and raised on Manitoulin Island and moved to Sudbury in 2017. Outside of work I am often visiting family, as I come from a big family & I am well known as “Aunty Apryl” to ten wonderful children. I enjoy softball leagues in the summer and spending time at the outdoor rinks in the winter.

I joined Dr Hanson’s team in June of 2020. I am truly grateful to have found an amazing team and working environment to be part of. Chairside assisting with Dr Hanson and his associates Dr. Mate & Dr. Eryk have been great experiences, and beneficial to my knowledge and continuing learning and interest in the dental field. It has been inspiring to work in a dental office that offers a comprehensive range of high quality dental care. I enjoy working in the dental field where I can contribute to helping patients have a good experience, and receive valuable dental care.
